Gallery: Remembering African Wild Dogs

See the rare and endangered African wild dog as you’ve never seen it before, thanks to stunning images by top photographers

26 January 2022

Remembering African Wild Dogs is the sixth instalment of the acclaimed Remembering Wildlife series. It aims to raise awareness of a much-misunderstood mammal through stunning images donated by leading photographers.

African wild dogs are one of the world’s most endangered mammals. Due to habitat loss, disease and persecution by humans, there are only about 6,600 of these beautiful canines left in the wild. So the book is raising awareness and funds to protect them.

Book sales have already supported the translocation of 14 African wild dogs from South Africa and Mozambique to Malawi as part of a wider project to restore wildlife populations there.

Our selection of images from the book is best viewed in landscape orientation on mobile devices.

Remembering African Wild Dogs by Wildlife Photographers United (£45) is out now from Remembering Wildlife.
