Exclusive wallpaper for WWF members

Every month, we bring you an inspirational image of the natural world to brighten up your desktop, mobile or tablet

26 April 2024

Like many butterflies, the chalk hill blue is quite particular when it comes to habitat. As the name suggests, it prefers chalky grassland, and in the UK is only found in southern England. It also relies on just one plant – horseshoe vetch – for food.

With so many butterfly species (and their caterpillars) reliant on very specific plants for their survival, protecting and restoring wildflower habitats has never been more important. With your help, we’re working on projects to bring our meadows back to life.

Bring a chalk hill blue to your desktop or device with our wallpaper and May 2024 calendar, which are also a thank you for being a WWF member. Just scroll down and click on the relevant button to download the image.
