Cuddly toy or fearsome foe? Bears are a cornerstone of cultures around the world, from creation myths to modern children’s tales. With the intrepid Paddington venturing into cinemas this month, we’re celebrating these diverse mammals with our wallpaper image.
There are eight species of bears across Europe, Asia and the Americas (Paddington is a spectacled bear, and our wallpaper shows a brown bear). They face the threat of habitat loss – whether that’s forests or Arctic ice – as well as hunting linked to the illegal wildlife trade and human-wildlife conflict. As a WWF-UK member, you’re helping us protect pandas and polar bears.
Give your desktop, tablet or mobile phone the bear necessities with our wallpaper and November 2024 calendar, which are also a thank you for being a WWF member. Just scroll down and click on the relevant button to download the image.
