Enjoy a Big Winter Wander to help protect nature

While it might be tempting to hibernate when the weather’s dark and cold, a winter walk is a great way to get active and boost your mood.

And if you join our Big Winter Wander in February you can also help support our conservation work in the UK and around the world.

The idea is simple: just walk 5k or 10k between 12-25 February (perfect timing for the half-term holiday), and invite friends and family to join and sponsor you. You can go at your own pace, and walk alone or in a group.

You can also use our spotter sheets and activity guides to reconnect with nature while you walk.

When you raise £30, we’ll send you a WWF T-shirt to show your support, and once you hit your £100 target you’ll also receive a Big Winter Wander medal!

It’s easy to sign up online, and if you’ve got any questions there’s a handy FAQ page packed with answers.

Our Winter Wander is suitable for all ages, so it’s a great way to get the kids out and about. It can be hard to resist the lure of a muddy puddle!

Nature needs our help now more than ever. The latest Living Planet Report revealed major declines in the populations of many species around the world.

And the Save Our Wild Isles TV series and campaign have highlighted how the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world.

Half of all UK species are in decline – red squirrels, hedgehogs and many species of birds are all under threat.

By taking part in The Big Winter Wander you’ll not only be appreciating nature but also helping to protect it.
