Take a step to protect nature on a Great Wild Walk

Put your best foot forward and do your bit to support nature by joining one of our Great Wild Walks this year

27 March 2024

A weekend walk is a great way for people to relax, re-energise or explore a new area. And on a Great Wild Walk, it’s also a great opportunity to stand up for nature.

The climate crisis is threatening the landscapes we love, in the UK and around the world. With your support, we’re working hard to protect and restore wildlife and habitats – and when you join one of our Great Wild Walks you can help us do more.

This spring and summer, there are four Great Wild Walks taking place:
Alice Holt Forest in Surrey on Sunday 19 May
Sherwood Pines near Mansfield on Saturday 1 June
Epping Forest in Essex on Saturday 22 June
• Gloucestershire’s Forest of Dean on Saturday 6 July

By taking part in these sponsored walks and raising money for WWF, you’re taking a step in the right direction to protect our one shared home.

All our Wild Walks will let you choose between a 10-mile route or a shorter five-mile circuit. Both routes take in the beautiful scenery of the forests, and you might even spot some local wildlife!

There’s a registration fee of just £5 per adult, and under-16s can take part for free (see below for an exclusive members’ code for half-price registration). Your registration includes a WWF T-shirt to wear on the day, and as a reward for finishing your walk you’ll receive an eco-medal (we’re doing our bit to keep the Great Wild Walks as sustainable as possible).

If your Wild Walk inspires you to go further, you could sign up for one of our treks, which are taking place around the UK between May and September.

Taking a walk is a great way to reconnect with nature and appreciate the beauty and diversity of the wildlife around us. By joining our Great Wild Walks you can help to protect it, too. Together we can bring our world back to life.
